About the District: Bajali district is located in the western part of Assam and is one of the state’s newly constituted districts. The district is bounded by Baksa district to the north, Nalbari district to the east, and Barpeta district to the west and south. The district headquarters is located at Madan Rauta Nagar, Pathsala and the administrative jurisdiction covers the areas of Bajali, Jalah and Sarupeta. Bajali enjoys good road and rail connectivity with the state capital and other parts of the country. National Highway–31 passes through the district, while State Highway–127A provides an important link towards the international border with Bhutan. Another key road connects Bhawanipur with Manas National Park, enhancing access to important ecological and tourism zones. Rail connectivity is facilitated through rail stations at Pathsala, Sarupeta, Niz Sariha and Guwagacha.

Industrial development in Bajali district is presently limited but steadily gaining momentum. At the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit (2025), Bajali district witnessed strong investor interest, with 46 investors signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth approximately ₹126.44 crore. These proposed projects are expected to generate employment once they become operational, reflecting growing confidence in Bajali’s emerging economic potential and investment-friendly environment.

The newly formed district is rapidly emerging as an economic hub with significant business opportunities, particularly in agriculture, food processing and the service sector. The district being classified under the "Zone B" category of the UNNATI 2024 scheme (offering 50% capital subsidies), it is an attractive destination for entrepreneurs. With NH-31 passing through it and SH-127A linking the district to Bhutan, Bajali is well-connected for trade. Rice is the One District One Product (ODOP) for Bajali district, with high-quality rice farming being a cornerstone of the economy. Pathsala is recognized as a major learning hub with Bhattadev University and several reputed educational institutions like Pathsala Mahavidyalaya, Anandoram Barooah Academy and several others are driving demand for services related to education, housing and stationery. Bajali is also evolving into a Medical Centre, making it an ideal location for diagnostic labs, private nursing homes and pharmacies.
